There are several strategies for dealing with a roundhouse kick. One that may seem counter intuitive is utilizing circular motion to move to the outside of an oncoming kick. The typical approach is to move away from the incoming kick, so as not to absorb the impact. Although this can be quite effective, this approach places the defender in a more vulnerable position. A more optimal strategy would be to position yourself on the outside of the kick, thus limiting your opponents ability to counter attack. In this lesson, we’ll show you how to do just that.
